Well, I know it's June 4th, but life has a way of changing even the best of plans. Right?
I had every intention of re-launching my book today as the first of a trilogy (for now). Then family came in from out of town, work, music, and stuff happened. Stuff, you ask? Computer programs, including MS Office, had to be COMPLETELY reinstalled. From scratch. And they needed internet. And my internet stinks. And that was after hours and hours of trying to fix the problems. UGH!
OK, so excuses aside, here's the rub: I'm going to launch it next Tuesday.
Why Tuesday? That is the day that most publishing houses put out new books. It seems to always be the day that books get released, and since I'm trying to do this thing right (this time), I want to, well, do it right. FYI, I plan to keep to my schedule and release Book 2 in two weeks instead of three. So for all of you waiting for Book 3, it's not going to be a longer wait!
But there's something else that happened that made it even worse than all of that. Yesterday, June 3rd, was the 25th anniversary of the day I first laid eyes on my beautiful wife. Wow. 25 years! And guess what I was doing for most of the day? Trying to get my book ready. Yep, I messed up.
I have to say that I didn't completely forget. I knew it was coming up. Both kids were gone. We were going out. And then I got caught up in all the mess.
My wonderful wife, though, who knows me so well, stuck by me. As usual. She grilled steak for us, and while programs were downloading we had a great meal. Then, while the programs were still downloading and installing, we went out for an awesome dessert. It was special, and all because of her. As usual. I just regret that I didn't actually say the words I should have said:
"I love you! And thank God you fell in love with me before getting your eyes checked!"
So, there it is, in print, for all of you to see. The book will be a week late. And my wonderful wife loves me more than I deserve. As usual.
